Greg Andrews expects Leatherhead to start showing their true form now they finally have a Ryman Premier League win under their belts.

The Tanners beat East Thurrock United 2-1 on Tuesday, thanks to a first-half double from Andrews, to claim their first victory in their 11th game.

It came on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Bury Town on Saturday in which they arguably deserved more than Andrews's penalty, and the striker believes the tide is turning at Fetcham Grove.

"That win was very much needed," he said.

"It will bring a bit of confidence now maybe and hopefully we can go into the cup game on Saturday and can get another win and push on.

"It has been coming that we were going to get the win.

"People ask how big the step up is but it is not major.

"It is a bit more clinical and they are better players but I don't think it's too much.

"Once we breed a bit of confidence and everyone gets their own confidence back up, we will prove to people they are coming up against us rather than us coming up against them."

Defeat at Bury is the only loss Richard Brady has suffered since taking over as manager from Mick Sullivan four games ago and he takes his side into the FA Cup third qualifying round at fellow Ryman Premier League team Billericay Town on Saturday.

"It has been a good change," said Andrews, who wasted a hat-trick chance on Tuesday when he unselfishly squared to Kev Terry only to see his team-mate miss an open goal.

"Richard was a forward and helps the forwards out of a lot and his assistant, Jamie Coyle. is a defender who still plays and he helps out the defence a lot.

"It would be good to get far in the cup but we need to win on Saturday first and we are just looking to that.

"We were unlucky to go there and lose 2-1 on the opening day of the season so, hopefully, we can go there on the back of the win and get a run going."
