Students who attended a sports college in Richmond together are providing a touch of déjà vu in this year’s FA Umbro Fives.

Richmond Boys made it through the Regional Finals at Goals Hayes, with the same line-up which got them to Wembley in 2007.

Their manager, Jeff Banks, says that The FA UMBRO Fives is now well and truly established on the calendar. “We started out playing five-a-side just to keep fit in the off season, but as time has gone by and tournaments of the magnitude of The FA UMBRO Fives have popped up, we’ve taken things more seriously.

“One of our new players is a former Wembley winner and has added a different dimension to the squad, but unfortunately, at the time of the Regional Final he was recovering from an operation, so we went with our original line-up.

“We are delighted to reach Wembley again – going back there will be a great feeling. Last time we enjoyed the whole experience from the coach journey to walking out onto the pitch and playing on the famous turf.

“We look forward to going back again and making a challenge for this year’s trophy.”

Real Ballers from Ashford are also heading to Wembley after coming through their regional finals at PlayFootball.net in Portsmouth
