Chertsey Town defeated Sussex League outfit Forest 4-0 in their latest pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The lead was established 12 minutes into the game with Paul Brooker crossing the ball for John Pomroy to head back into the path of Gavin Bolger, who fired home from 12 yards.

The lead was increased, with Brooker again the provider, this time to set up a Pomroy volley into the Forest net.

Six minutes into the second half, Brooker set-up again, this time for Marcus Moody to clip the ball home at close range when under pressure.

A goalmouth scramble on the hour was cleared up with Simon Langley firing through a gap.

A further goal might have given a better reflection of play but, 10 minutes from time, Brooker was felled from behind but Pomroy, from the penalty spot, only managed to find the woodwork for the second time in the encounter.

Town's pre-season build-up takes an intriguing westward turn this week as they compete in the South West Errea Cup, being staged in North Devon.

Eight clubs in total are competing. Chertsey Town have drawn Barnstaple Town and Yeovil Town in the initial stages.

Chertsey Town's next home game is on Thursday, July 31, when they entertain Croydon Athletic at 7.45pm.

Town's competitive season commences on Saturday, August 9.
