SOUTH BANK/CUACO 2 KEW ASSOCIATION 3 (Bolton, Taylor, Roberts)

Kew had several regulars missing for this Southern Amateur League Divison Two clash.

The Ham base-side started the game very brightly, taking the slight slope and wind advantage, and created several chances, including several one-on-ones, but just could not convert.

Just when it looked like the next attack would see Kew take the lead, they shot themselves in the foot, playing a needless offside that saw SOUTH BANK/CUACO score a well-taken goal after 30 minutes.

Kew were shellshocked, and the home side seized the momentum, creating a couple of good opportunities shortly before half-time but thankfully were unable to convert.

The manager Darius Montague delivered a good half-time talk and Kew approached the second half in a positive manner.

Within 10 seconds on the restart, the visitors were level when Lee Bolton got on the end of a cross from the left.

It was a great start to the half but Kew could not hold on for more than 10 minutes, as sloppy defending allowed SOUTH BANK/CUACO to take the lead.

Credit to Kew who kept on and pushed for the equaliser.

With 20 minutes to go, Ryan Taylor's cross-cum-shot from the left eluded the keeper to make it 2-2.

Kew pushed for the winner and, in the dying minutes, they got behind the SOUTH BANK/CUACO defence. A perfectly delivered cross saw Gareth Roberts arrive to score the winner.

It was a battling performance with a much-weakened side.

Perhaps another day a draw would have suited both sides but both knew a win was a must.

Mentions go to Mark Smith in the Kew goal. His handling and a late save kept the visitors in it.

West Speight put in a good 90, working hard down the right flank.
