Merton 3 Kew Association 3

Ham-based Kew Association made a great start against high flying Merton. Kew scored after five minutes with a well worked move slotted in by Sam Richards. Within a minute of the restart, Merton equalised.

Kew controlled much of the first half through though a tireless work rate missing a couple of clear chances to take another lead after some excellent passing movement.

It was all looking good til a minute before half time. We conceded a free-kick some 25 yards away from our goal.

A great strike from the Merton player gave our keeper no chance. 2-1 down at half-time.

Kew started the second half brightly and created some good chances.

We did equalise after 55 minutes but the goal was disallowed, much to our disappointment.

This seemed to put life into Merton who increased their lead shortly afterwards to go 3-1 up.

With confidence up, Merton created a couple of good chances they should have converted and taken a comfortable lead.

With 25 minutes to go, Kew introduced our three subs, including Lee Bolton on his was back from injury. It changed the game.

Ollie brought life into our attacks and created a great opening for Matt Cronin who scored on 85 mins to pull one back.

Then almost with the last kick of the game Bolton equalised from a cross to give Kew a well-deserved point.

The change allowed Ashley Lodge our man of the match to play in a more central position giving Merton all sorts of problems with his pace and technique during this exciting 25-minute period for Kew.

Eighteen-year-old Ben Barnet playing in his second full game for the first team put in a very good shift at right back.

Also the tireless work rate and commitment of Dan Boskovic up front. Both players came close to the man of the match award for Kew.

It was a great battling performance by a side that never gives up and keeps our unbeaten run to four games now.
