Ks manager Alan Dowson insists he is concentrating on results rather than looking ahead to where his side might finish the season.

Commenting after his side’s 2-1 win over Tooting Dowson, said: “At the minute we’re no more than mid-table, so we’ll just get on with it and see how it goes.”

After 16 days off over the Christmas period Kingstonian showed a bit of rust in the early stages against a Tooting side playing their third game in a week.

The hosts grew into the game as it progressed however, and Dowson insisted Stuart Duff’s 81st minute winner was “fully deserved.”

Despite starting the year with a win, the manager won’t be resting on his laurels, “There’s a lot of things to work on, I’m not kidding myself, I’ve got loads of things to do.”

Some of those things to do may involve searching for new faces with the admission that he will “be looking to bring one or two more in,” hinting that it is up front where he feels his side are currently lacking.

It took a brave decision from Dowson to win the game as he withdrew mainstay of the side Bobby Traynor for goalscorer Duff with the game locked at 1-1.

The risk was rewarded as Duff was on hand to tap-in following loanee Fola Orilonishe’s header onto the bar.

It was the two debutants, Orilonishe and Matt Pattison who caught the eye for Kingston.

In the 13th minute Orilonishe, on loan from Sutton, fired the ball across the face of goal to force Tooting’s captain Ronnie Fletcher into an own goal and give the hosts the lead.

Pattison slotted straight into a central midfield position and ran the game from the outset, adding some fluidity alongside Sam Clayton behind Traynor.

His passing is what Dowson said Ks had been “been crying out for.”

Despite the winner coming so late, Ks had been the better side throughout. Tooting equalised as Charlie Stimson capitalised on Rob Tolfrey failing to claim a free-kick, but that aside it was the Tooting area that saw the action.

Pattison was at the centre of everything as he saw shots flash wide, saved and blocked. Sam Clayton and Traynor were equally unlucky before Duff had the final word.
