Leatherhead manager Richard Brady has warned Sunday’s 3-0 win at Kingstonian could be the spark for his side to start climbing the Ryman Premier League table.

Two goals from midfielder Vernon Francis and one from striker Tom Hutchings secured a comfortable victory for the Tanners, who remain in the division’s bottom two desipite the win.

But Brady thinks the result has given his men the belief to turn their season around.

“Going to Kingstonian and deservedly winning 3-0 is no mean feat,” he said.

“We didn’t get too discouraged after playing some good teams who are up there.

“We had some injuries to key players that we haven’t wanted to talk about, but we were always confident and that showed against Kingstonian.

“It is encouraging for the players because they now have the belief in themselves that I always had in them.

“I think it is just a case of self-realisation, that you have to do what you have to do or you won’t be there. There is a lot of competition for places and that is only good for the club.”

The Fetcham Grove boss was not able to build on the momentum of Sunday’s victory straight away, however, after last night’s game against Wingate & Finchley was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

And Brady, who replaced Mick Sullivan in October, bemoaned his side’s recent fixture schedule for his their false position in the table.

He explained: “It has been a little bit stop start all the time.

“We wanted three games this week and to kick on last night and it just seems to be the way that since I came in we haven’t been unable to play two or three games back-to-back.

“It has been a case of playing a game, then it’s FA Cup, then it’s FA Trophy and now we’ve got a game called off.”

Leatherhead host Wealdstone on Saturday and Brady is hoping for a change in the weather in time for the game.

“We are hoping it is on and will prepare for the game as though it is,” he added.
