It takes an impressive effort to make a 3-2 win appear comfortable yet unimpressive, but Kingstonian managed that on Tuesday night.

Three up going in to injury time, late goals from Tony Stokes and Karl Beckford caused late anxiety, but the pair of tap-ins served only as consolations for Concord Rangers.

That's not to say the Islanders were unimpressive, in fact, the hosts were superior throughout.

Their early dominance saw Stokes and Inih Effione blaze good chances over before a freak goal gave Ks the lead.

Concord goalkeeper, Hayward's kick was poor, but it took an ambitious effort from Sam Clayton to give Dowson's side the lead.

His shot was within the keeper's reach, but he could only spill it into the net.

Soon after, the visitors' lead was doubled.

Neil Jenkins' free-kick round Romone McCrae's head on the edge of the area, whose looping header lobbed Hayward to put his side two up going in to the break and give him his first Kingstonian goal.

His tally doubled quickly after half time after good work from Ali Chaaban gave him the chance.

McCrae's shot deflected over Hayward to put the Ks three up. Clayton and Bobby Traynor both saw good chances cleared off the line before the two minutes of injury time madness.

Despite the late wobble, Alan Dowson left happy after three more points, giving them four wins and a draw from their last six league games, a run that has seen them move to just three points off the playoffs.

For the handful of Ks fans who made a midweek trip, it was a strangely satisfying experience while seeing their team under perform.
