Out of favour Hampton & Richmond Borough stars Callum Stewart, Stuart Duff and Charlie Moone sent a message to boss Mark Harper, but the Beveree chief has insisted they are not his problem.

The trio have been transfer listed having failed to impress in the Blue Square South this term, with the Beavers sitting at the foot of the table with only one win from 11 matches this term.

Moone bagged a brace – with Stewart and Duff striking one each – as Hampton’s second string beat Tooting & Mitcham 5-1 at the same time the first team were losing 1-0 at Tonbridge Angels – their seventh defeat of the campaign.

The club’s embarrassing 6-2 FA Cup exit at Arlesey Town meant the club were financially forced to allow star striker Jacob Erskine to quit the club at the weekend.

But Harper has insisted it is not up-front where his main concerns lie.

“The door is not closed to Callum, Stuart and Charlie as long as they work hard and do what I expect,” he said.

“They need experience at this level and maybe a loan move or something like that might just do the trick.

“Our problem is not creating chances or scoring goals, it is the fact we are conceding so many.

“As a former centre half that is the most frustrating.”

Harper held talks with chairman Steve McPherson last week after the Beveree chief had suggested time was ticking on the former Sutton United man’s tenure at Station Road.

Hampton were two minutes from securing a much-needed point at Tonbridge until conceding a late penalty, much to Haper’s frustration.

“It was a dubious penalty but, had it been at the other end, I would have been jumping up and down shouting for it,” he added.

“For 88 minutes we were in the game and that sums up our season.”

Hampton host Boreham Wood on Saturday knowing it is a must-win situation for the struggling outfit and their beleaguered boss.

And Harper insisted the club backs his efforts to halt Hampton’s slide.

“Me and the chairman are still on the same page, the players are still doing everything I’m asking of them and the supporters were still cheering us on at the end of Saturday’s game,” he added.

“The chairman will do what he has to do, but I’m happy as long as the players are still giving me 110 per cent.

“I’m pushing for more in the budget and I’m looking to bring players in, but times are hard. Money talks at this level. But if we play like we did Saturday, then we will be fine and results will come.”
