Ks boss Alan Dowson says it is unlikely he’ll replace Sam Long after the winger sealed an eleventh hour switch to Cray Wanderers this week.

Dowson had thought he had finished his summer recruitment drive having unveiled the Dover Athletic livewire as one of seven new arrivals at Kingsmeadow last week.

Thurrock striker Paul Olima was to be the final piece in the jigsaw for a Ryman Premier League promotion campaign when he arrived on Tuesday.

But former Charlton Athletic trainee Long, who failed to put pen to paper on the move, chose to join Cray at the weekend, although Dowson is in no rush to fill the void.

“It doesn't surprise me that football has come to this when one minute he says he wants to play for us and the next he's off,” he said.

“We’d shaken hands on the deal. He tells me he’s got personal problems that he needs to sort and then he signs for Cray.

“At least we've got this done and out of the way now, as I don't want any characters like that in my squad.

“The lads are working their socks off at the minute and I don’t think I’ll need to get anybody in.”
