Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson fears a winter fixture pile-up could scupper hopes of landing the Ryman Premier League title.

Ks saw their League Cup clash with Fleet Town abandoned on Monday night due to thick fog less than 48-hours after Saturday’s 3-1 triumph over Canvey Island.

Dowson believes Kingstonian’s tenancy at AFC Wimbledon’s Kingsmeadow Stadium already puts his side at a disadvantage.

And having to shoe-horn extra fixtures in around the Dons’ Blue Square Premier and FA Cup schedule is only going to add to the problems.

“Compared to other clubs, having to play Saturday-Tuesday or Sunday-Monday games we are at a massive disadvantage,” he said.

“We’ve got one hand tied behind our back already and once games start getting called off it only makes it worse.

“It affected us against Sutton. The players were tired.

“It will make it harder for us.”

Kingstonian roared back to form after last week’s 2-0 defeat to Sutton United as Bobby Traynor added a brace to Tobi Jinadu’s opener to dispatch Canvey 3-1.

And Dowson, who tinkered with his starting line-up at the weekend, revealed a week long UEFA coaching course had played its part as Ks closed the gap on United at the top of the table ahead of Monday’s scheduled visit of Hendon.

“Tactically I learnt a lot and I can get even more cones out on the training pitch now,” he joked.

“There were always going to be changes and it freshened things up for us. We looked a lot more energetic and I was really pleased.”

Ks officials have warned fans about their conduct and use of bad language in the ground following complaints about the behaviour of a small group of fans.

But Dowson wouldn’t change the team’s band of followers for the world.

“You are never going to get rid of bad language in non-League football grounds,” he said.

“I haven’t heard anything about any complaints, but what I do know is we have great supporters and I wouldn’t want to swap our fans for anyone.”

Kingstonian’s next three games: Nov 22 Hendon (h), 27 Tonbridge Angels (a), 30 Maidstone Utd (h).
