Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson signed Harrow Borough defender Tobi Jinadu this week before insisting there were still places up for grabs in his squad next season.

The 26-year-old left-sided centre-back, supporters player of the year at Earlsmead last season, agreed terms on Tuesday to become Dowson’s third signing of the summer.

He will go toe-to-toe with Max Hustwick and Adam Thompson for a place in the starting line-up next season as Ks look to go one step further than the Ryman League Premier Division play-off final.

“I’m absolutely delighted to get him. We’ve been crying out for a left-sided defender and he fits the bill,” said Dowson.

The Kingsmeadow chief has invited all of last season’s squad back for pre-season training to run the rule over the resources at his disposal for a possible title tilt this time around.

Winger Dean Lodge will return with fresh impetus having seen the departure of Christian Jolley over the summer, and has said he is keen to stay providing he can get more game time.

But Dowson has warned the former QPR trainee, who had a brief spell in the Blue Square Premier in 2009, he’ll have to work hard for a starting spot.

“I’ve invited all of last season’s squad back to pre-season training, but I’m not about to make the same mistake I did last year by handing out contracts like confetti,” he added.

“Everyone will have a chance to prove themselves. One will not come back and I’m sure one or two will move on in time.

“All players want to play at a higher level, but of all the players we had here last season Christian was the only player to attract any offers.

“He is the first at training and last to finish. He has set the example others need to follow if they want to get on.”
