Kingstonian winger Dean Lodge says doubts remain over his Kingsmeadow future having not spoken to boss Alan Dowson since the end of the season.

The 24-year-old former QPR trainee didn’t play as much as he would have liked last season, but still scored 11 goals as Ks missed out on promotion to the Blue Square South in the play-off final.

Lodge wants to remain at Ks providing Dowson feels the sam way, but he insists he wants to be playing more this season and he says the ball is firmly in the manager’s court.

“I can’t really talk about my future and can’t really clarify where I’ll be playing next season,” he said.

“If the manager wants me to stay at Ks I will, but I haven’t heard anything from him. I’ve had a text and then we’ve both been on holiday, so we haven’t spoken directly.

“I don’t really go looking for moves, things tend to happen out of my control, so we will see what happens.

“I’ll probably be at Ks next season, but I want to playing way more. Managers live and die by their results, so I can’t complain too much, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t think I should’ve been playing.”

Dowson made Jon Boardman and Tom Bird the first of his new summer signings earlier this month and Lodge believes they means Ks stand a good chance of winning the Ryman League Premier Division next season.

“Alan has signed some good players. I know a few have left Kingstonian, but there is still the core of last year’s team playing,” he added.

“He’ll try and play it down, but I think we’ll be a very strong side next season, especially with me in the team.”

And Lodge reckons he is already making tracks for the coming campaign.

He said: “I’m already preparing myself physically and mentally for next season, because I want to be flying at the start.

“I’ve been doing some strength and conditioning training with a few pros, but that is pretty boring and I can’t wait to get back to playing football.”
