Joe Vines wants Tooting & Mitcham to play the role of party-poopers as they look to end their topsy-turvy league campaign on a high.

The Terrors signed off their home season with a 2-1 win over relegation-haunted Margate on Saturday thanks to goals from Paul Vines and Matt York.

And with a visit to play-off hopefuls Boreham Wood finishing things off, Vines is eager to leave a lasting impression.

He said: “I would like to think we can go there and spoil the day.

“It is not about them it is about us as I really want to go out with a win.

“We only really have pride to play for but that did not stop us on Saturday.

“I certainly think we can get a result there as no one has stood head and shoulders above in the division this season.”

Tooting gave their home fans something to shout about at the weekend as they rounded off a lacklustre Imperial Fields campaign, that has seen eight losses, with a deserved victory.

Vines added: “It was a good performance and a good win.

“It was not a typical end of season game by any means as there was a lot riding on it for them.

“It would have been easy for us to go through the motions but I thought we looked strong and worked very hard.”

The Terrors squad will hit the town for a ‘Crap Shirt’ night after the Boreham Wood game, before their annual shindig to Magaluf in late May.

And the Tooting skipper hopes Saturday will not be his last outing in the black and white stripes.

Vines added: “I hope I am here next year but at the moment I really do not know.

“If Billy and George are here I will be back as I play for them.

“But nothing has been sorted or said yet so it will just be a case of playing by ear.”
