Kingstonian 3 Wealdstone 3

Pre-match torrential rain at Kingsmeadow on Thursday night did not dampen a sparkling Ryman League Premier Division encounter between the Ks and their old rivals, with six goals before the hour mark.

Ks manager Alan Dowson rejigged his side after the sluggish display at Cray Wanderers last Saturday, bringing in a young striker from Reading, Andy White, and he crowned an impressive debut with a goal.

Ks meant business and raced to an early two-goal lead but the Stones' electrifying pace saw them draw level with two goals in two minutes just before the break.

The second half was just too close to call but it was a fine individual effort from Christian Jolley that restored Ks' lead.

But, before the hosts could consolidate, the visitors equalised again through Andy Logie from a set-piece.

Ks had chances to restore the lead but so did the visitors, whose immediate counter-attack was threatening all evening.

Next up is a trip to Kent to visit Tonbridge Angels tomorrow.

It was pacy Stones winger Danny Spendlove who went close on just three minutes with a 25-yard free-kick that was tipped over by Ks keeper Rob Tolfrey.

Four minutes later, Stones' Ryan Ashe sized up a free-kick from distance but his effort floated out.

Ks replied with Jolley taking off down the left, cutting in, but firing over.

On 12 minutes, Spendlove took off down the right finding striker Jamie Osborne, but Tolfrey did well to smother the on-target drive.

Two minutes later, Ks responded with the opening goal of the game.

A high Matt Gray free-kick, from way out on the left, was unconvincingly punched clear by keeper Sean Thomas but only to ANDY WHITE on the edge of the away box, and his rising drive took a wicked deflection on its way home.

Then Bashiru Alimi took off down the left, he picked out Traynor who nodded the ball back to Dean Lodge, but he lifted the ball over the bar.

Gray took another free-kick from out on the left but this time an assertive Thomas caught the ball.

The Stones winger Dean Smith set striker Callum Martin free down the left but his curling drive went wide of the far post.

On 23 minutes, it was number two when a devastating Lodge throughball set BOBBY TRAYNOR free down the right and he coolly and accurately buried the ball into the far corner for goal 101 for the club.

Then Mo Harkin cut in from the right but drove the ball wide of the far post.

On 32 minutes, Ks' control of the game started to crumble when defender Marvin McCoy took off down the right at some speed.

With Stones strikers queuing in the Ks goalmouth, he selected CALLUM MARTIN, who had a relatively easy job to tap the ball home from closed quarters.

A minute later, almost straight from the restart, with the Ks backline reeling, DANNY SPENDLOVE took off down the middle of the park and coolly stroked the ball home past the outcoming and stranded Tolfrey.

In the opening minute of the second half, a quickly taken free-kick from Ashe down the right picked out Osborne in the Ks box but he sliced his drive wide.

Then the dangerous Spendlove also found Osborne in the Ks box but he was stopped by the intervention of Ks defender John Fletcher.

On 51 minutes, though, it was Ks who resumed their lead, when Traynor set youngster CHRISTIAN JOLLEY down the left and into the Stones box, where he unleashed a powerful rising drive that thundered against the inside of the near post and past a full-stretch Thomas. But, only three minutes later, the Stones were back in the game when a Ashe free-kick floated into the Ks box for an unmarked ADAM LOGIE, who had time to pick his spot and head past a stranded Tolfrey.

On the hour mark, one of the best Ks moves of the game when Harkin set Traynor free down the middle, where he unselfishly pushed the ball into the path of Lodge but his shot went wide.

White took off down the left, finding Alimi, he picked out Traynor in the away box where his first-time volley went just over.

Traynor then eyed up a free-kick right on the edge of the Stones box but disapppointingly he blasted the ball over.

Ashe replied with an edge-of-the-box drive safely smothered by Tolfrey.

Some defensive dithering was exploited by White on the edge of the away box but his effort was straight at Thomas on his line.

A Jolley run and drive was again comfortable for Thomas. Then Stones defender Louis Lavers set Logie free but he blasted over.

With six minutes remaining a short Gray corner to Traynor deep in the away box saw consecutive efforts blocked.

Alimi curled in a far post cross from the left which was just beyond a lurking Traynor.

In the final minute, sub Carl Wilson-Denis picked up a loose ball on the edge of the away box but shot straight at Thomas.

Four minutes into additional time, a Gray corner from the left into a jammed Stones box was headed out.

Gray again sent in the corner which was only half-cleared to Harkin who sent the ball straight back for Fletcher to head wide.

A Gray free-kick was held well by Thomas in a crowded away box. Then Spendlove broke but his through ball was overhit.
