England and Spurs striker Jermain Defoe kicked off the inaugural Jermain Defoe Charity Cup this week, inviting amateur six-a-side footballers from Walton-on-Thames to register their team for the heat at Elmbridge Xcel Centre.

The winning team will win £5,000 and the chance to watch a Spurs first team training session.

Jermain Defoe said: “The Jermain Defoe Charity Cup is a 6-a-side tournament for London’s amateur footballers. Proceeds from the Cup will support the Kids Taskforce so if you think you’ve got the skills to be crowned the first ever winners of my cup, register now at www.JDCup.com.”

The Jermain Defoe Charity Cup will be held across 20 London venues on Sunday March 14th. 400 teams will be able to register for the tournament. The winning team from each heat will win a place to compete in the final at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground. Jermain will be in attendance to watch the drama unfold.

The Jermain Defoe Charity Cup has teamed up with www.sixasidelondon.com to help raise funds for the Kids Taskforce. The Kids Taskforce is focused on preventing children coming to harm and is establishing a national standard for safety education in schools.

The Walton on Thames heat will be held at Elmbridge Xcel centre, Waterside Drive, Surrey, KT12 2JG.
