Allan McLeod admits his head is still spinning after the defender completed an amazing u-turn and returned to Tooting & Mitcham less than a month after quitting the club to join Grays Athletic.

The full-back departed Imperial Fields in a bid to make his name at the Blue Square Premier level after being snapped up by former Dulwich Hamlet boss Craig Edwards.

But McLeod revealed the switch quickly transformed from dream to nightmare.

He said: “To be perfectly honest I still don’t know exactly what happened.

“I went there, I had my discussions with them and I signed a contract and then nothing happened.

“The whole thing has been a bit of a shambles.

“I need people to be straight with me and Grays were anything but.

“I gave them time but then I just had enough of it.

“When I do not know what is going on behind the scenes then that is time for me to leave.

“They really mucked me about so I just went to see the bosses, shook them by the hand and said that is me out of here.”

In an ironic twist McLeod returned to Tooting colours for Saturday’s friendly with Grays themselves.

And the former Arsenal man is glad to be back at Terrors boss Billy Smith’s side.

He added: “As soon as I realised something was wrong at Grays I gave Billy a ring about the possibility of coming back.

“He told me to turn up for training and we have taken things from there.

“Of course I am disappointed the Grays move fell through but you just have to pick yourself up and move on.

“I would have no problem whatsoever coming back to Tooting - if they sign me of course. ”
