Matt York admits he has a simple target for the coming season at Tooting & Mitcham - to stay fit again.

York, who returned to Imperial Fields from Carshalton in November last year and made 26 appearances for the Terrors, was one of the few Tooting players to commit himself for the forthcoming Ryman Premier league campaign.

And the midfielder, who produced some excellent displays having hit peak fitness last time out, is raring to go.

He said: “All I want from this season is to stay injury free again and play as many games as I can.

“We are back in training and everything is going well.

“Having moved around a bit I’m just looking forward to settling down here and getting the matches under my belt.”

Justyn Roberts, Dean McDonald, Allan McLeod and Andrew Howell have all moved on, with strikers Steffan Ball and Jamie Byatt arriving.

And despite the quality of the players exiting Tooting, York reckons the Terrors have to aim higher than their ninth-place finish last season.

He added: “There are quite a few new faces at training so I reckon we shall start the season with a good squad.

“But I honestly do not know what the future holds for Tooting & Mitcham.

“We have to think we can do better, and if we start the season well then who knows?”
