Billy Smith insists he will not panic despite facing the possibility of losing his two leading strikers in the summer.

The Tooting & Mitcham boss has already lost Dean McDonald, who has departed for Farnborough Town along with Justyn Roberts.

And with fellow frontman Paul Vines (and Allan McLeod) on trial with Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic, Smith admits he may have to start upping his search for fresh talent.

“I have definitely lost both Dean and Justyn and that is a blow as they made a big difference to us last season.

“But I will just have to go out and find another two.

“Nothing is sorted with Paul or Allan but there is a chance they could be leaving, but I will not be losing any sleep over it.

“I have been doing this job for a long while and I have always found a way to get by.”

Vines and McDonald combined for 28 goals last season as the Terrors finished the Ryman Premier campaign on a high in ninth place.

But Smith has warned Tooting fans not to expect any flashy signings descending on Imperial Fields over the summer.

He added: “I’m talking to one or two players but at the moment everybody seems desperate to get in there first.

“I have never worked like that and I will just be taking my time and seeing what happens.

“Nowadays it seems like the football comes second and the money comes first, and we will never be at the front of that queue.

“But I am sure that we will have things in place before the start of next season.

“After all, no one had heard of Paul Vines before I brought him here so I will just have to do that again.”
