Premiers League side Fulham have snapped up Hampton & Richmond`s talented young striker Ben Wright.

The 20-year-old and officials from the Beavers and Fulham met on Friday morning to discuss the transfer, which will become a done deal on Monday, providing Wright passes a medical.

The in-form goal-getter's last game for Hampton saw him coming off the bench at Team Bath last Saturday and scoring one of his trade mark scorchers despite suffering from the flu.

Wright joined the Beavers at the start of this season after impressing in a pre-season friendly against Swindon Town.

He had previously played for several teams including Basingstoke Town.

Hampton boss Alan Devonshire eased Wright into the side and he responded with 13 goals from 18 starts and nine substitute appearances.

Several clubs had been chasing Wright, including Reading and Millwall, but he is now heading for the Premier League.

Hampton chairman Steve McPherson has stated that the fee would not be disclosed, but it is in excess of the previous record for Hampton of £40,000 paid by QPR for Leroy Griffiths in August 2001.
