Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson reckons Fulham will provide a stiff challenge no matter what side boss Roy Hodgson chooses to field at Kingsmeadow on Friday night.

Dowson made his Football League debut on-loan at the Cottagers in 1989 under current Craven Cottage coach Ray Lewington.

The visitors are still to confirm the make-up of the team for the friendly clash, having only just returned from a pre-season tour of Korea and with a trip to Championship side Birmingham City on the fixture list for Saturday.

But Dowson is confident his side will get a lot from the experience.

“It is a great opportunity for us to test ourselves, whatever side they put out,” he said.

“They are a massive club compared to us. Everybody playing for them will have aspirations of playing Premier League football this season.

“Their fitness and skill levels will be a lot higher than our own, but it is always good to pit your wits against some of the best talent in the country.”
