Chessington & Hook are ready to plunge themselves into a chase for a Combined Counties top-five finish fresh from three weeks without a game, writes Marianne Reardon.
Overhauled Chessington, who added 18 players to their squad this season, have games in hand over several of the eight sides above them in the Premier Division table, and host top-four side Cove on Saturday, having travelled to Chertsey Town last night.
In a bid to maintain their match fitness, manager Paul Norris has resorted to playing some squad members in reserve matches.
"We will probably end up having to play two or three times a week to fit the games in," he said.
"But fitness won't be an issue as we have worked hard in training and should still be sharp.
"The season is going better than we expected and we are definitely looking to break into the top five."
