A New Malden football club has set its sights on competing in the FA Cup, despite only coming in to existence this season.
Acts 29 FC, which takes its name from the bible and has been established to engage with the Korean community in Kingston, play their first home game in the Surrey Intermediate League later this month.
And Surrey FA football development officer Jon Burr reckons it is the tip of the iceberg in terms of what the club hopes to achieve.
“This is a very special event for the Korean community and the area as a whole,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to see football being used as a social tool and they already have ambitions to play in the FA Cup.”
Acts 29 FC’s Philip Sung added: “There are an estimated 20,000-30,000 Koreans in the Surrey and London area and we want to unite the community with love and give hope and happiness to the Korean people.”
