Both the Trinity School junior and intermediate cross-country teams contested the regional finals of the English Schools Cup on Saturday.
Rivalries apart, their challenge in the 12-team contest was the testing terrain of Knole Park Sevenoaks.
Although achieving very creditable fourth and sixth-place team spots, they did not progress to the national final.
They did however gain considerable satisfaction as the third placed school on aggregate across the two races.
Trinity were the top Surrey school, and were beaten only by Kent rivals The Judd and Skinners schools.
The leading Trinity runners ahead of very determined colleagues in fields of 100 plus, were junior Matthew West (eighth) and intermediate Michael Eagling (15th).
