Hercules Wimbledon’s road runners have rewritten the record books to take team gold in the Surrey half-marathon championships.
Dimon Evangeledis led the gold-medal winning performance at Petersham on Sunday by winning silver in one hour 12 minutes 34 seconds.
Matthew Sharp took third (1.13:56) and Kieran White took fourth (1.14:44).
It was the first time in living memory that Hercules Wimbledon’s road runners have taken an individual road race team title.
Down the field, Lisa Thomas was the first woman veteran over-45 finisher, taking fifth spot in the women’s race in 1.28:39 to set a new club veterans women’s record.
It was also the second best age-graded performance behind the race winner. Stephen McDuell was second male veteran over 50 in 1.26:18.
This weekend, Hercules athletes are in action in the South London Athletics Network’s U17 and U20 Development meeting at Tooting Bec.
