Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was happy with his performance in the men’s 100m final showdown despite coming second to undisputed British champion Dwain Chambers.
The 25-year-old Sutton & District sprinter was looking to score a huge number on the vastly experienced campaigner Chambers on Sunday at Birmingham Alexander stadium, but had to settle for silver in 10.14 seconds.
Chambers, 36, clinched his eighth domestic title with a season’s best 10.12secs, while current UK’s fastest Chijindu Ujah was third with 10.18secs.
Aikines-Aryeetey said: “I had three solid performances this weekend which I’m happy about. “I was going for the win, but I’ve got the European qualifying standard now.
“I’m happy and will just look to move forward.”
He added: “I will concentrate on the opportunities available now with the Commonwealths and the Europeans.
“Once I get my selection confirmed, then I will have to make a decision, obviously, two major championships may be pushing it for me but I’ll have to go away and review it.”
Unfortunately injury prevented fellow Sutton resident Andy Turner from taking his place in men’s 110m hurdles final despite qualifying.
