Croydon Harriers are celebrating a double champion weekend after Shirin Irving and Kertis Beswick won the England U17 sprint hurdles finals.
Irving, the national U15 record holder, ran a season’s best of 11.36 seconds over the 80m hurdles to maintain her number one ranking.
Team mate Beswick broke his personal best twice and while his wind assisted time of 12.75 seconds in the final does not stand, his 12.97 seconds run the semi-finals extends his lead at the top of the UK rankings.
In the field events, Omar Reid took silver in the U17 discus, throwing 47.45m.
Elsewhere, the Harriers’ men’s team took joint third at the Rosenheim League Final at Tooting, and there were ParkRun wins for Harriers’ Peter Chambers, at Dulwich Park, and Alan Burn, at Lloyd Park.
