Spencer finally got their Surrey Championships division one season started on Saturday with a 55-run win over Dulwich.
Having seen their opening two matches of the campaign rained off, they looked rusty after deciding to bat first at Fieldview – finding themselves reduced to 20-4 early on before recovering to 168 all out, with Neil Baker top scoring on 38.
Dulwich stumbled in reply but were looking good at 89-5 before crashing to 113 all out as Asif Mohamadi took 4-16.
In division three, Bank of England came agonisingly close to beating Woking & Horsell but ran out of overs.
Having been set 202 by Woking, Damon Ridgway’s 67 put Bank on course but they fell short of their target as they ended their 50 overs on 200-9.
Saturday: Spencer v East Molesey, Bank of England v Churt.
