Brentford midfielder Sam Saunders has confirmed he is going nowhere during the transfer window, despite having failed to agree a new deal to remain at Griffin Park beyond the end of the current campaign.

The 28-year-old, who scored in Saturday's 5-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers, has a contract offer on the table but is yet to put pen to paper.

Saunders has been sounded out over a one-year deal with a clause to extend that by another year triggered by appearances.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge star is after more security, but he has assured fans he is not about to walk away from the club any time soon.

"I'm not making any silly wage demands or anything like that I just want to have the security of a two year deal, otherwise I'm going to be in the same position this time next year," he said.

"I've still got four months to go on my current contract so there is still plenty of time to sort things out.

"I would like to think that will happen sooner rather than later, but I'm not going anywhere in this window.

"I am ambitious and as long as the club is matching my ambitions - which it is - then that is only a good thing.

"I'm at the stage of my career where everything has got to be right and I hope everything can be sorted because I'm enjoying my football here."
