Harlequins director of rugby Conor O’Shea is adamant his side will travel to Toulouse on Sunday with the same mindset, despite losing their unbeaten record to the French giants last Friday.

Quins crashed 21-10 at the Stoop to end a 14-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, but O’Shea insisted it changed nothing.

“We won’t go down there with anything other than the same mindset that we have taken into every game,” he said.

“We’ve been completely written off. We are not a bad side now that we’ve lost a game just like we weren’t a great side when we were winning games.

“Our guys are disappointed, battered and bruised, but are not down.

“We will play in many more games like that and next week is the first of them.

“We are a good enough side that we can compete against these teams on our day but we know we need to be more accurate in what we do.”

Full back Mike Brown’s second-half try looked to have his side back in the game having trailed 11-3 at half time.

But Quins were soundly beaten by a Toulouse side that look a good bet to win the Heineken Cup and O’Shea freely admitted the better team won.

He explained: “We got it back to 11-10 and got a bit of energy into the game.

“But the right team won, they were incredibly physical and won the gain line battle.

“They didn’t allow us to get the quick ball we like and that is the lesson that you can learn from playing teams of that standard.”

It was a bruising encounter and O’Shea’s side picked up a number of knocks but he is hoping to have everyone available come Sunday with the only major doubt being Joe Marler.

“The only concern for the match would be a lot of bruises and Joe,” he added.

“There are a lot of battered bodies, Joe Gray went off worried about his elbow, but that seems to be fine.

“Hopefully, we will get all the guys back fit.”
