Conor O’Shea wants to draw a line under scrum-half Danny Care’s arrest last weekend as Harlequins focus on their Heineken Cup trip to Toulouse on Sunday.

The number nine was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the early hours of Saturday morning at Noir Bar in Weybridge and was later released without charge having paid an £80 fixed police penalty fine.

Quins, who will be looking to return to winning ways in France, also hit him with a sizeable – but undisclosed – fine in the form of a donation by the 24-year-old England international to the Teenage Cancer Unit at University College London Hospital in Tottenham Court Road.

“We have a crucial Heineken Cup match on Sunday in Toulouse, so it was important we acted quickly,” said director of rugby O’Shea.

“We take it very seriously. However, from the club’s point of view, a line will be drawn under the incident and we will get on with our preparation for the match.

“Danny has apologised and understands fully what is expected of him.”

Care was also reprimanded by England interim coach Stuart Lancaster and apologised for his actions, which came after Quins’ 21-10 defeat to Toulouse at the Stoop which ended a run of 14 games without defeat.

“It was a silly thing to do – I accept that and apologise completely,” he said.

“We had just played a tough game, and I was out with some of the team and friends, but should have remembered that, as a professional player, I am on duty throughout the season and need to set a better example to the fans.

“I totally accept the police and club fines.”
