Terry Brown has admitted hopes of shoring up his leaky defence could rest on the shoulders of Mat Mitchel-King.

Brown’s summer signing was an unused substitute as AFC Wimbledon crashed 2-0 at home to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

The former Crewe Alexandra centre-back has been hit by a succession of injuries this season that have forced him to watch the Dons’ first ever Football League campaign from the sidelines.

Brown’s back four have been beset by problems all season and the Kingsmeadow chief can not wait to get him back involved ahead of Saturday’s trip to Rotherham.

“It will be good to get him back in,” he said.

“He played in a friendly on Tuesday and hopefully he will be ready and available for Saturday because he needed another 90 minutes.

“He’s got league experience and he is a very talented centre-half so hopefully he can come in and shore us up a little bit.”
