Quins full back Mike Brown is not thinking of his England future, despite a flying start to the Premiership season.

The 26-year-old has not featured in team boss Martin Johnson’s plans since winning the last of his three caps on the ill-fated tour to New Zealand three years ago.

A regime change at the RFU in the wake of England’s disappointing World Cup campaign could ease the door open for Brown to step up from the Saxons set-up.

But the Southampton-born star, who has four Premiership tries to his name this season, is not counting his chickens.

And he is only focused on Quins and taking their unbeaten start to the campaign into the Heineken Cup on Friday.

“England is not something I’ve really thought about,” he said.

“I don’t even know what is going to happen with the coaching side of things, so I can’t look that far ahead.

“The only thing I can do is keep doing my best for Quins and hope everything takes care of itself.”

Brown has scored key tries in his last two outings with what proved to be the winner against Exeter Chiefs at the Stoop and one in Saturday’s 26-13 win over Bath at the Rec.

His effort added to skipper Chris Robshaw’s opener and another 16 points from the boot of Nick Evans, as director of rugby Conor O’Shea’s men made it a perfect ten wins from ten matches this season.

Quins, who started with back row triumvirate Nick Easter, Robshaw and Maurie Fa’asavalu for the first time this season on Saturday, welcome familiar foe Connacht to the Stoop on Friday.

And Brown believes they have the ingredients to continue winning .

“We need to keep believing in ourselves and the way we play. We must be at our best against Connacht,” he added.

“We know them well, but they have made some big signings and will be dangerous.”
