Harlequins have announced David Morgan will be their new chairman from September 1.

Morgan has been a non-executive board member at Harlequins since last year and has been acting chief executive during the last two months.

He succeeds Malcolm Wall, who is retiring from the Harlequins board following his appointment as chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi Media.

As previously announced, David Ellis will be assuming the role of chief executive of on August 15.

Morgan said: "It is a tremendous honour for me to become chairman of Harlequins, a club with which I have had an involvement for more than 35 years.

"Malcolm Wall leaves Harlequins with the club in an upbeat mood, confident and optimistic about our future.

"I am looking forward very much to playing my part in the next chapter of our great club.

"On behalf of all at Harlequins, I would like to thank Malcolm for his outstanding contribution as chairman during the past two years and to wish him well in his new role."

Malcolm Wall said: "I am sorry to be leaving at a time when we have made so much progress on and off the field.

"I wish the team, the staff and supporters all the very best.

"I will be cheering the Quins on from afar. I am delighted that David Morgan is able to take on the chairman role.”
