Richard Lee was named supporters' player of the year at the Brentford end-of-season awards on Saturday.

The goalkeeper, signed from Watford last summer, was given the trophy at the Big Red Ball at The Holiday Inn in Brentford, pipping Karleigh Osborne and last year's winner Leon Legge into second and third.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a torrid start to his Bees career when he conceded five goals in a pre-season friendly with Fulham and found himself out of the team before winning his place back at the end of October.

He went on to make 33 appearances and kept eight clean sheets, as well as being the penalty shoot-out hero in cup matches with Everton, Leyton Orient, Birmingham City, Swindon Town and Charlton Athletic.

He also picked up the coveted hottie of the year prize ahead of Sam Saunders and Sam Wood.

Osborne did not go away empty handed, receiving the Griffin Park Grapevine player of the year award.

Meanwhile, chief executive Andrew Mills confirmed the club's search for a new manager was continuing and that no one had yet been offered the job.

He said: "The process of drafting a short list and interviewing candidates has been ongoing for some while and despite, press reports to the contrary, no formal offer has been made to anyone at this stage.

"We continue to investigate every possible opportunity to find the best candidate and I remain hopeful that our current discussions and negotiations, though delicate, will have a positive outcome."
