AFC Wimbledon 6-1 Fleetwood (Wimbledon win 8-1 on aggregate)

Wimbledon are just one match away from re-writing their history books after ruthlessly condemning Fleetwood in the Blue Square Bet Premier semi-final second leg.

Nine years on from their creation with a trials free-for-all on Wimbledon Common, Luton Town are all that stand in their way of ripping through the Non-League scene in under a decade and recapturing the club's rightful place in the Football League.

Three goals in each half in front of a packed Kingsmeadow littered with heroes of years gone by, the new breed of young upstarts are so close to a place in Dons folklore they can almost taste it.

All lingering nerves evaporated in little under a minute as Kaid Mohamed scored the first of his three to set the hosts on their way.

Helped by haphazard defending all night, captain Danny Kedwell made the game totally safe before the half-hour mark.

Fleetwood again waved the white flag ten minute before the break. Chief culprit Sean Gregan handed Luke Moore the ball before he picked out Mohamed who walked the ball in for the easiest goal of his life.

Gareth Seddon gave the travelling fans a flicker of hope after beating the excellent Seb Brown at his far post but it was a false dawn.

Mohamed bundled home his hat-trick to make it 4-1 on the night and substitute Christian Jolley at the second attempt after more shocking defending added a fifth.

Another replacement, former Hayes livewire James Mulley, rounded Danny Hurst to complete a perfect night for Wimbledon.

Manager Terry Brown beamed: “My over-riding emotion is pride. I enjoyed watching that and I think the crowd did as well. We were magnificent.

“To think of where the club has come from and to be so close to being back to where we should be is fantastic. If we can do it inside ten years these players can create history.

“We have here a wonderful group that can only get better, whatever happens at the City of Manchester Stadium next Saturday.

“We wanted an early goal to steady our nerves but to have one inside a minute was more than you could have asked for. Kaid has been brilliant since he has arrives, a great signing.

“Luton will be a different opponent but we're in with a great chance. The Eastlands pitch suits our game and although they play a similar style, it's big and it's a perfect surface. Great for us.

“I'm not sure there is a favourite for the final. I would love Luton to be the favourites but I think tonight may have put paid to that!”
