Brentford boss Andy Scott, named League One manager of the month last week, reckons he is nearing the end of his tether with his mis-firing Bees.

Scott’s men crashed out of the FA Cup on Tuesday after poor start cost his side a 1-0 replay defeat at League Two Aldershot Town at the EBB Stadium.

Brentford won four out of five league games in October, but are yet to win a match this month and the manager admits he is losing patience with his side’s Jekyll and Hyde performances.

“It is driving me mad. We warned the before the game - but not enough notice was taken - that it was about starting well and playing our way and our tempo and shutting down,” he said.

“I’m devastated because we lost and I don’t like losing football matches, certainly in the manner.

“If we get beat doing what we do and we are unlucky, I can hold my hands up. But we only played for 45 minutes.

“We don’t become a bad side overnight and that’s the frustrating thing, the inconsistency of it.”

The Griffin Park chief was forced to re-shuffle his pack with defenders Karleigh Osbourne and Pim Balkestein suspended, and striker Gary Alexander missing after his girlfriend went in to labour.

But only Sam Saunders took advantage of only his second start of the season, leaving Scott admitting he is looking elsewhere to beef up a squad that has played 25 competitive fixtures already this term.

“I’ve been to a game this afternoon and we’re still talking to people, but people are reluctant to let players go at the moment,” he added on Tuesday night.

“But we’ll keep on working very hard [to bring in a loan player] because we need to freshen things up.”

“I thought Sam Saunders came in and did well, before running out of legs.”
