Seb Brown is refusing to take the AFC Wimbledon goalkeeping jersey for granted despite seemingly being in pole position for the number one spot at Kingsmeadow.

The release of James Pullen at the end of last season sees Brown and teenage prospect Jack Turner as the only keepers on the Dons books as Wimbledon look set to run with an 18-man squad in the next campaign.

But the former Brentford stopper is refusing to count his chickens.

Brown said: “As things stand at the moment Terry said to me that he is happy with me as his first choice but things change quickly in football.

“I think the fact that Wimbledon have such a tight budget really plays in my favour.

“The boss said to me that if he had a bit of money to spend he would go out and get a more experienced keeper, but that is not an option for him.

“So it looks pretty good for me, although you never know just who will become available over the summer so I am not getting ahead of myself.”

Brown was a revelation between the sticks for the Dons last season, earning Young Player of the Season honours after making 25 starts in the campaign.

And the 20-year-old admits 2010 has been a good year for him so far.

Brown added: “Last season was an unbelievable one for me personally and I ended up playing a lot more games than I expected.

“Hopefully that will continue as I really love being at this club.

“I know things tailed off a bit for us towards the end but we are a club making progress and have lots to look forward to.”

The Sutton-born keeper will be quitting his job at car rental firm Europcar in Streatham as the club goes full-time in July.

And Brown reveals he cannot wait to get his new spell at Kingsmeadow underway.

He added: “I cannot believe anyone can complain about being a professional footballer as it is the greatest job there is.

“At Europcar I enjoyed my work but it was 8-6 every day and really hard work.

“To go from that to training in the mornings and having the afternoons and evenings to yourself is fantastic.

“Before that I am off to Costa Blanca for a break which will be my first holiday in three years.

“The last couple of years I have had to spend the summer sorting myself out with a club so it is great to have everything sorted.”
