Wallington women’s rugby star Davinia Monteiro bagged a hat-trick of tries and the man of the match award in Bath University’s BUCS Trophy final triumphed over Birmingham last week.
The England U20s international, playing at number eight, played the vice captain’s role to perfection in helping her side to a 32-12 victory at Richmond FC to banish the memory of a narrow defeat to Dundee at the same stage last year.
The triumph came days after Monteiro helped England Universities sevens team lift the Home Nations Tournament title and Triple Crown in Edinburgh.
But it was the win in west London, where she collected her man of the match award from BBC TV’s John Inverdale, that gave her most satisfaction.
“This has been the highlight of my university rugby career, the standard we have progressed to over the last three years - with minimum funding - has been amazing,” she added.
