Bees loanee Lionel Ainsworth seems set to have played his last first team game for Brentford after a touchline tantrum following his substitution against Yeovil Town at the weekend.

The 22-year-old was hauled off on the hour mark - giving youngster Ryan Blake his debut - before storming down the player’s tunnel without taking his place on the bench for the rest of the game.

Midfielder Sam Saunders notched his first goal for the club from a free-kick to ensure the game finished all square at 1-1 and keep Brentford within touching distance of a top ten finish.

Boss Andy Scott’s men travel to Swindon Town before hosting Hartlepool United on the final day, but the Griffin Park chief as vowed Ainsworth - on-loan from Huddersfield Town - we play no further part.

Well he showed a complete disrespect to his team-mates and to me and Brentford Football Club,” he said.

“Whether we’ve got 12 players or 13 on Saturday, he won’t appear for this club again, certainly not in the first team.

“He needs to work on his fitness so will play for the reserves.”
