Winger Myles Weston has expressed his happiness at signing a one-year contract extension at Brentford.

The deal, which ties him to the club until 2012, had been on the table for a while and the 21-year-old, who scored twice in Saturday's 4-0 win over Gillingham, finally put pen to paper on Tuesday.

"I am delighted to get the contract extension, it gives me a bit of security and stability," he said.

"We've been speaking about it for a little while but I just wanted to be concentrating on my football.

"It's definitely a big boost when the manager comes and says he wants to extend your contract.

"It gives you confidence and I feel really confident when I am on the pitch at the minute."

Weston's double on Saturday took him to nine goals for the season, more than twice his previous best in the last campaign for Notts County.

His second goal may yet go down as an own goal by Gills' Alan Julian though after Weston's shot hit the post and rebounded in off the keeper, but Weston is adamant he will be claiming it.

"I want as many goals as possible so I am taking that one," he said.

"They might try and take it away but for now it is mine and I am going to hold on to it as long as I can, I fully earned it.

"I got four last season and I am on nine now so I have doubled my best total for a season.

"I don't really like setting targets, I have done that in seasons before and not stuck to them.

"All I will say is double figures would be nice and hopefully I can get to that."

The Bees have lost just once in their last eight league games but Weston is cooling talk of a play-off push and not looking further ahead than tomorrow's match with second-bottom Wycombe Wanderers.

"We are going to take every game one at a time, we do not want to get ahead of ourselves," he said.

"If we keep winning then there is a chance of the play-offs but we must take it game by game.

"A month before the end of the season we will then see how it is but until then we must try and win every game."
