London Scottish skipper Gary Trueman has warned his men against complacency when they take on co-tenants Richmond at the Athletic Ground on Saturday.

The Exiles, who have already beaten Richmond twice in the league and cup this season, go into the game on the back of the National Trophy giant-killing of Manchester, while their visitors kicked-off 2009 with a 27-8 league triumph at Lydney.

And Trueman reckons the occasion and the fact there are league points riding on the encounter this time around, spells danger for his promotion chasing side.

“If you catch them on their day, they’re one of the most dangerous teams around,” he said.

“The difference between the way they played in the league game and the way they played in the cup game was pretty noticeable.

“When it came to the league fixture they played like there was a lot more riding on it, almost as though they were playing for their lives, and we can expect that again on Saturday.

“There’s a lot of pride at stake which comes into play, and I honestly think if Richmond play with that same sort of zest against the majority of the other teams, they’d be in the top three.

“It’s going to be a spectacle, everyone’s going to give everything and there’s going to be a few bodies strewn all over the pitch.”
