Bees midfielder David Hunt insists he doesn’t want to be known as simply a long throw specialist at his new club, but is happy to do the job if required.

The 26-year-old's 35 yard howitzers caused panic in the Notts County defence late in the second-half of Saturday’s last-gasp 1-1 draw at Griffin Park.

Boss Andy Scott will not ditch his footballing philosophies to accommodate the weapon in his side’s armoury insisting Hunt is a more than just a one-dimensional attacking option.

The man himself agrees, but is happy to carry out orders to deploy his natural talents in the interests of taking the Bees to League Two glory.

“I’ve always had the ability to throw the ball long. I’ve got no special technique and I don’t really practise, it is just something I’ve always been able to do,” he said.

“If the boss wants me to fire them in there I’ll do it, but there is more to my game than just a long throw.

“I’m happy to play anywhere if asked and if Andy wants to use me just for the throws I’m more than happy to contribute.”

And Scott admits it is a useful asset to have in the locker, providing his players are aware of it.

“All we need is one throw-in within 35 yards of the goal and the ball will go in the box,” he added.

“People talk about Rory Delap at Stoke, but if you’ve got it then use it.

“David certainly has a missile of a throw. We did get caught out with it. He hasn’t thrown that far in training and the first one he fired in, our boys were nowhere near it.”
