Harlequins RL have been shorn of one of their potent attacking options for 2009 with winger Rikki Sheriffe electing to join Bradford Bulls.

Sheriffe, who crossed for eight tries in an injury-affected campaign, had come to the end of his current deal with the London club.

And despite the Stoop club making noises about retaining his services, the lure of a return to the North was too great an attraction for the flyer.

Sheriffe admitted: “I was born in Bradford and as a kid I always wanted to go on and play for the Bulls.

“A couple of other top-six sides were keen and Quins wanted to keep me, but I only ever wanted to come here.

“There was no choice for me once I knew.”

Sheriffe ranked in the Super League top 20 in numerous categories including metres carried and clean breaks, and Quins will no doubt hope the emergence of youngsters Will Sharp and Jamie O’Callaghan will soften the blow.
