London Scottish head coach Jim Kelly reckons if his side wins promotion it will be as much down to home-maker Ross McGregor than anything else.

The first team manager has been charged with heading to away games an hour before the squad to ensure their destination is like a home-from-home before their arrival.

The move paid off at the weekend as McGregor’s handy work helped inspire the Exiles to 36-15 triumph at Bridgwater & Albion - their first win on the road this season.

Scottish’s away form last term cost them a tilt at promotion and Kelly believes the team boss’ role and a more professional approach can make the difference this time around.

“We sat down over the summer and targeted our away from as being in need of massive improvement,” he said.

“Ross gets to the ground an hour before we do to set things up so that the away dressing room is as close to our home dressing room as possible.

“The shirts are set out in the same way, all the warm-up equipment is there ready to go and we have even changed coach company to make sure the players are more comfortable when they travel.

“Last year we lost a number of games because our was lethargic and that is what we have tried to address. If you want to win promotion you have to make sure you pick up your fair share of points on the road.”
