AFC Wimbledon new boy Alan Inns feels the club still need to bolster their attacking options if they are to make waves in the Blue Square South this season.

Inns knows what it takes to succeed, having been a vital part of the Hampton & Richmond side that came so close to promotion to the Blue Square Premier last season.

And the defender is adamant that the Dons stack up favourably compared to his old teammates.

Inns said: “I think we have a very strong squad here.

“But I also think we need another player up front who can trigger us from being a play-off team to a promotion-winning team.

“Jon Main has been fantastic in the pre-season but he has been up there on his own.

“You cannot just rely on one person and it puts too much pressure on him.

“I know it’s something Terry is looking at so hopefully something will get sorted.”

Inns has been heavily involved in the Dons’ hectic pre-season schedule and has slotted in nicely at the back.

And the former Hampton man revealed it has been a smooth transition.

He added: “It is a different system we play here with four at the back as opposed to three and I have had to get used to that.

“We are trying to play a more passing style which we are overdoing at the moment to be honest.

“It takes time to gel and fit in but it has been very easy for me.

“They are a good bunch of lads here.

“I have no regrets and coming to AFC Wimbledon was definitely the right move for me.”
