Dons boss Johnnie Jackson wasn’t too dismayed by Wimbledon's performance as they lost 3-0 to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
“[I thought] we acquitted ourselves brilliantly, stayed in the game for a long period”, said Jackson. “We tried to grow into it, obviously, making changes to try and go and get a goal to get back in it”
“We did great for half an hour, sort of frustrated them a little bit, but then we conceded the two goals that, I think, are avoidable”.
The Dons were cheered on by 5,000 travelling fans in a sold-out away end, which wasn’t lost on the team.
“Even when the boys were warming up, I could hear it from the changing room, and then you walk out, and you see that whole end filled with Wimbledon fans is an unbelievable sight”.
“I know it's not a long journey, but to fill that whole end out, and get behind the team, was a credit to the club, credit to the boys. I think they appreciated the effort that the lads had put in against, obviously, a top-quality team. So, no complaints from me”.
Marcus Browne and Ryan Johnson were two notable omissions from the squad tonight. Jackson put the reason down to fitness, saying, “They both had knocks, so not sure if they'll be available for Wigan yet, but it wasn't a tactical decision. They were unavailable through injury”.
Wimbledon’s next game comes on Sunday as Wigan Athletic visit Plough Lane. Still without a win in the league, Jackson will be hoping that some of the performances tonight can carry through to the weekend.
