The Dons announced this afternoon the signing of winger James Tilley for an undisclosed fee from Wycombe Wanderers.
Tilley has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a three-year contract, and returns to Plough Lane for a third time.
In the summer of 2023, Wimbledon acquired Tilley on a permanent deal from Crawley Town, where he quickly became a key player in Johnnie Jackson’s squad – eventually helping the club earn promotion in the 2025 League Two playoff final.
Tilley made the switch to Wycombe Wanderers last summer but rejoined the Dons on loan for the second half of last season, as they went on to secure their League One status.
Now, after 115 appearances and 19 goals in yellow and blue, James Tilley joins Wimbledon on a permanent deal for a third spell at the club.
“I’m absolutely buzzing. This is the one club that feels like home for me and my family”, said Tilley, speaking to the club. “Wimbledon is where I've been happiest playing football”.
Manager Johnnie Jackson told the club that “signing Tilley was one of our top priorities this summer” and that “it’s great to call him our player again”.
This signing adds to the growing list of summer additions, along with Dan Sweeney, Zack Nelson and Steven Sessegnon. There may be more to come, however, as director of football Craig Cope told the club, “We’re looking for four or five extra players” before the end of the summer transfer window.
