A Croydon boxer was crowned the national senior champion on the weekend of October 18-19, 2025.
Junior Eyenga of the Croydon boxing gym, also known as Impact Boxing, won the National Senior -75kg title at the National Developments Championships in Kettering on October 18-19, 2025.
This victory extends his amateur boxing record to 18-0.
Eyenga is the club's second national champion in successive seasons, following Jason Williams' win last year in the -67kg youth category.
After taking a break from boxing, Eyenga considered quitting the sport altogether.
However, his passion for boxing and aspirations to represent England kept him going.
He said: "I was going to quit boxing, but Jesus brought me back."
His head coach, Ted Bami, wasted no time getting him back into shape and entered him straight into the championships without any warm-up bouts, despite being away from the ring for more than a year.
This bold move paid off with Eyenga winning the London region in the same competition, defeating strong opponents from Islington Boxing Gym and Miguels.
