A 22nd goal of the season from League 2 Player of the Season nominee Michael Cheek was enough to give Bromley a well-earned three points against bottom side Morecambe.
Bromley were looking to bounce back from a 5-0 defeat last week to table topping Port Vale.
The Ravens were also looking to end what manager Andy Woodman called a "proud season" in which he felt that they had fallen short by not making the play-off positions. The Ravens could still make the top seven places, but being ten points off with a maximum of 12 points available it would take a near mathematical miracle.
Woodman made two changes for today's fixture at Hayes Lane with Deji Elerewe and Idris Odutayo both coming back into the 11 at the expense of Millwall loanee Adam Mayor and Byron Webster.
This was a crucial match for Morecambe as defeat at Hayes Lane and victories for both Tranmere Rovers and Accrington Stanley would confirm The Shrimps' relegation to the National League.
The first half was one of very few chances, the best one falling to the hosts when Michael Cheek brilliantly laid the ball off to Daniel Imray who was denied after a wonderful save from Harry Burgoyne.
Right at the start of the second half, Daniel Imran won himself a penalty after a late challenge from Shrimps substitute David Tutonda. Up stepped the Ravens skipper and top goalscorer Michael Cheek, who slotted his spot kick into the bottom right hand corner for his 22nd league goal of the season.
Bromley then survived two golden chances to make the score 1-1, firstly in the 55th minute when good work from Lee Angol set up Andy Dallas for a one on one, but Grant Smith made an excellent save.
Then from the following corner, Morecambe's Max Taylor had a header cleared off the goal line by Ashley Charles.
Things got much harder for the Shrimps when captain David Tudonda was booked twice in a three-minute period, eventually given his marching orders for something he said to referee Declan Bourne. This made what was already a tough game for the relegation-threatened visitors much more difficult.
Into the 82nd minute, Ravens sub Harry McKirdy almost had an instant impact coming on when a good run from the winger led to the ball landing at his feet in the six yard box, but he was unable to direct it past Burgoyne who, despite currently being on the losing side, was having a very good game, making five saves.
There was to be a late chance in the 92nd minute for Morecambe as Marcus Dackers managed to find room for a header, but it was easily saved by Grant Smith, who kept his 14th clean sheet of the season.
For Morecambe, the dreaded destiny of dropping out the EFL for the first time since 2006/07 grows ever nearer.
